Haupt’s career spans over forty years across corporate change management, telecommunications, and systems integration on multiple continents. His corporate background in telecoms and systems transformation preceded a transition to strategic advisory work with leaders and high-net-worth individuals, and then to the work the wiki represents: the design of coordination and monetary architectures for bioregional regeneration.
Intellectual contributions
The BioConomy wiki documents a body of work whose original constructs are Haupt’s. These are distinct from the borrowed frameworks (Ronfeldt’s TIMN/TIME, Ostrom’s commons governance, Polanyi’s fictitious commodities) that the wiki cites and extends.
The Substrate Hypothesis. Coordination is a function of engineered or evolved substrate, not participant disposition. The synthesis draws on two contributing lineages: the M.G. Taylor Corporation’s workshop methodology (1980-2013) and Elisabet Sahtouris’s evolutionary biology (1989-2024). The contributing lineages are credited as inputs; the synthesis is Haupt’s.
The Emancipation Architecture (EA). A three-movement architecture for monetary and coordination design: Movement I (The Three Futures) diagnoses the civilizational condition; Movement II (Mycelial Value Creation) specifies the theory of value under the Transcendence trajectory; Movement III specifies the implementation, including the bioregional currency, the Regenerative Participation Income, the six structural inversions of the Coercion Continuum, the constellation of entity types, and the replication mechanism.
The Coercion Continuum. Five phases of monetary coercion from chattel slavery through debt bondage, wage compulsion, monetary dependence, and property redefinition (UCC Article 8, securities entitlements, CCP default waterfalls). Documented through statutory text, legislative archives, and peer-reviewed literature.
The Cheapest Available Behavior Thesis. Any coordination architecture produces behavioral incentives, and participants tend toward the behavior the substrate makes cheapest. Changing behavior requires changing the substrate, not the participant.
The (+T+I+M)^+N Test. Any +N effort that leaves the monetary substrate intact defaults to triform coordination with a +N overlay, not genuine quadriform coordination. The diagnostic: can the fourth realm persist when the +M substrate is removed?
The Node/Instrument overlay, the abstraction-trajectory axis, and the Reach row for the TIME framework. These are Haupt’s constructs built on Ronfeldt’s TIMN framework and must not be attributed to Ronfeldt.
Obligation and Invitation (concept). The two demand mechanisms for currency circulation: obligation (tax) in the +M form and invitation (access to exclusive bioregional goods) in the +E form, operating as complementary drivers.
The Five Transvestment Pathways (framework). The mechanisms by which a wealth holder’s assets migrate from the extractive regime into the commons-based order.
Protective Illiquidity. Non-fungibility with the external unit of account is the deeper protective property; illiquidity is its observable consequence.
The Valley of Grace
Haupt’s work is not purely theoretical. He lives and operates in Ward 2 of the Genadendal/Greyton valley, where the constructs the wiki documents are being tested in a living bioregion. The Valley of Grace BioHub (at12-vog) is the founding BioHub in the BioHubs directory. Haupt’s community development work includes bioregional regeneration, a business forum, tourism coordination, and schooling initiatives. The Valley of Grace’s partnership with Evan Folds of Project Biome to run a Bioregional Financing Facility design process makes it one of the early African testing grounds for the BFF architecture.
