The four-template founding suite for a BioHub cohort. Each template is a three-prompt sequence run with a deep research AI platform, with cohort review between prompts, producing documents the BioHub uses to establish itself, its BioRegion, its value proposition, and its alignment to bankable financial instruments.

Overview

A BioHub is a coordination body. Coordination requires standing documents that participants, counterparties, funders, and peer BioHubs can read. The templates produce those documents.

The suite has four templates. The first three establish the BioHub, its BioRegion, and its value proposition. The fourth aligns the BioHub’s retention services to a specific financial instrument. The first three are prerequisites for the fourth. Each template is prerequisite to the one that follows it.

Each template is designed for use with a deep research AI platform (ChatGPT Deep Research, Claude Research, Perplexity Deep Research, Gemini Deep Research, or an equivalent). Each template consists of three sequenced prompts. Between prompts, the cohort convenes to review what the AI has produced and to make the selections and resolutions the AI cannot make on its cohort’s behalf. The between-prompt work is the load-bearing part; the templates make it visible.

Each template’s third prompt produces three documents in a consistent tripartite pattern: a short formal Statement or Definition, a long referential Evidence Pack or Atlas, and a short co-signed Compact or Charter. Reader learns the pattern once and recognizes it across all four templates.

The four templates

  1. BioHub Identity Template. Establishes the BioHub itself. Produces the Identity Statement, the Field and Lineage Positioning, and the Founding Compact.
  2. BioRegion Establishment Template. Establishes the BioRegion within which the BioHub operates. Produces the BioRegion Definition, the BioRegion Atlas, and the BioRegion Charter.
  3. BioConomy Value Proposition Template. Establishes what the BioHub tenders into markets. Produces the Value Proposition Statement, the Value Proposition Evidence Pack, and the Tender Compact.
  4. Bankable Service Alignment Template. Maps the BioHub’s retention services onto a specific financial instrument (a nature-linked performance-based bond, a payment for ecosystem services mechanism, a biodiversity credit instrument, or comparable). Produces the Alignment Statement, the Alignment Evidence Pack, and the Alignment Compact.

The first three templates produce nine outputs together. The fourth produces three more, and can be run again against a second instrument (and a third) with each run producing another three. The Nine Outputs reference page lists each output with the audience it is written for.

Order and dependencies

Run the templates in sequence, one, two, three, four. Each template’s outputs feed the next.

Within a template, run the prompts in sequence, one, two, three. Prompt 2 depends on cohort review of Prompt 1. Prompt 3 depends on cohort review of Prompt 2. Do not skip the between-prompt cohort work. The Running a Template page covers what the cohort work is and why it cannot be delegated to the AI.

The TIME Diagnostic runs alongside the BioHub Identity Template. Its output feeds Prompts 2 and 3 of the Identity Template and can be attached to subsequent templates through the Field and Lineage Positioning document.

What the suite is not

Not a business plan template. Not a fundraising pack. Not a substitute for cohort work. The templates coordinate the work; they do not perform it. A cohort that has not done the work will produce documents that do not withstand scrutiny.

Not a prescription. The templates are instrument-agnostic and jurisdiction-agnostic. Each template’s prompts adapt to the coordinator’s local context.

Not one-shot. A BioHub aligned to a water bond may later run the fourth template again against a biodiversity credit instrument. The Using Templates Across BioHubs page covers multi-instrument alignment and multi-BioHub coordination within a BioRegion.

How to use these pages

Read the template page. Follow the link to the source document. Convene the cohort and run the prompts.

If you have not yet done the TIME Diagnostic, do it alongside the first template. If your cohort is not yet convened, use the first template’s Prompt 1 as a working draft to bring to the cohort once assembled.
