Co-founder (with Joe Brewer) of the Design School for Regenerating Earth, based in Barichara, Santander, Colombia. The school hosts online courses on organizational development, landscape restoration, and cooperation, and facilitates learning exchanges between bioregions working on ecosystem restoration and local living economies. Heiple manages the school’s operations, finances, administration, and community support, and brings a background in project management, accounting, prosocial facilitation, and biodynamic healing.
Contribution
Heiple’s role in the bioregional regeneration field is operational and coordinative. Where Brewer provides the intellectual architecture (culture design, complexity science, Earth system dynamics), Heiple provides the organizational infrastructure that keeps the Design School running and its learning exchanges functioning across bioregions. The combination is characteristic of the BioHub pattern the wiki documents: the coordination node requires both the analytical capacity to frame the work and the operational capacity to sustain it.
The Design School’s core activity, facilitating dialogue and shared tooling between bioregions doing restoration work, is a working instance of what the BioConomy corpus calls mycelial coordination: a lateral learning pattern between place-based nodes that does not depend on a central coordinating authority. Heiple and Brewer’s earlier venture, Live It Now Productions (2020-2023), worked a similar territory through online production, community-building, and consulting in the evolutionary consciousness and regenerative space, with Heiple handling operational direction, project management, and accounting.
Before the bioregional work, Heiple held positions in operations and administration at Humanity’s Team (Conscious Business Initiative Operations Director, 2016-2017), the Resonance Science Foundation (project management and community support, 2018-2020), and the School of Inner Health (business operations manager, 2017-2018). She holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
