The authors, who have led much of the field’s organizing work, propose the first framework for the institutional system that supports integrated landscape management: 20 dimensions in five sub-systems covering landscape partnerships, support programs, knowledge and tools, economics and finance, and public policy. Rating each against the past 25 years, they find widespread experimentation in partnership formation, methods and international endorsement, and minimal progress on operational funding, valuation, financial flows, tenure and government policy. The review names bioregional development as closely related to ILM and cites bioregional financing facilities among emerging finance mechanisms. The wiki takes the gap analysis as the field’s own account of where its support system is thinnest, and maps those gaps against BioConomy components.
