Lene Rachel Andersen is a Danish economist, futurist, author and philosopher, whose work centers on reviving Bildung for the twenty-first century. She founded the Copenhagen think tank Nordic Bildung in 2018 and serves as its president, co-founded the European Bildung Network in 2020, initiated European Bildung Day in 2019, and has been a member of the Club of Rome since 2019 [IC].
Contribution
With Tomas Björkman she wrote The Nordic Secret (2017), which argues that Bildung, spread through the Nordic folk high schools, carried the Nordic countries into modern democracy, and which links Bildung to Robert Kegan’s orders of consciousness. Her Bildung Rose maps a society across seven domains (production, technology, knowledge and science, ethics, narrative, aesthetics and power) and ties the inner development of individuals to the complexity of the society they live in. The wiki draws on her definition of Bildung and on the Kegan bridge in its argument that Bildung is ground zero for the BioConomy.
