A fixed period at a BioHub’s founding in which the cohort registers no legal entity and chooses its entity form at the end, once the place has said what work the entity is for.
Extended definition
During gestation the cohort works under its signed Founding Compact, holds nothing that needs a legal person to hold it, and gathers what the place says needs doing. The Compact records the period’s length, counted from the cohort’s first meeting, and the criteria for the entity decision at its end. The concept page sets out the forms a gestation can take and how it ends.
Contrast with adjacent terms
Direction of fit asks which side of a funding relationship changes to match the other. Entity gestation applies the same question to the BioHub’s own legal form, so that the form fits the place’s stated work.
