Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (2025, 24 September). Planetary Health Check 2025. Potsdam: PIK.
The check updates the assessment in Earth beyond six of nine planetary boundaries (2023). It finds ocean acidification across its boundary, bringing the number breached to seven of nine, while stratospheric ozone and aerosol loading remain within safe limits; the institute cites ozone recovery as evidence that coordinated action works. A 2026 check, reported in September 2026, found all seven breached boundaries at their highest recorded levels. The wiki cites the 2025 check in What GDP Leaves Out for the state of the ecological base that households draw on.
