Life, B. (2026). The Missing Middle of Bioregional Development: An Introduction to Bioregional Economics (Part II). omniharmonic, 25 October 2026.

Part II answers the question Part I closed on: who forms the body of a bioregional economy. Life names three ceilings the field must break (dependence on philanthropy, capital composted into open loops, and the gap between institutional ticket sizes and project scale), reclaims “development” in its organismic sense, and proposes the Bioregional Development Organization, a transmuted US Regional Development Organization that acts as an evergreen fund of funds above the four BioFi financing facilities. He pairs it with the bioregional learning center, read as a site of multi-capital exchange with the Grange hall as its ancestor, and describes a flywheel in which verticals, food first, close their loops and compound as density rises. The wiki takes from it the BDO’s plan, governance and capital stack, the metabolic study, and the case for the meso-scale, and treats a BioHub that carries capital functions as a BDO.
