Kuznets, S. (1934). National Income, 1929–1932. Senate Document No. 124, 73rd Congress, 2nd Session. Washington: Government Printing Office.
Kuznets prepared the estimates at the Senate’s request during the Depression, and they became the template for the national accounts. The report sets out what national income includes and excludes, and warns that the welfare of a nation can scarcely be inferred from a measurement of national income. The wiki cites it to show that the architect of the measure stated its limits at the outset. The corpus therefore asks why fiscal rules and lending conditions are still written in the measure, a question separate from whether economists know its limits.
