The CSIR compiles yearly figures on the energy mix, electricity demand, the energy availability factor of Eskom’s fleet and the hours and energy shed. Its 2024 release records that lower demand and a rising plant availability factor “eliminated loadshedding from April 2024 onwards.” The wiki uses it in South Africa on the Curve as the independent record of the end of the 2023 crisis, read beside Eskom’s own account. The CSIR is a statutory research council; its statistics are not peer-reviewed.
